Does SourceTrace prove who owns an image?
No. It brings together public source leads, dates, handles, and credit links so you can make a better-informed attribution. It is not a legal authorship or copyright decision.
What kinds of images work best?
Publicly posted artwork, fan art, illustrations, memes, gaming images, anime art, screenshots, GIFs, and short videos are the best fit.
Can it recognize cropped or edited copies?
SourceTrace prepares several search views, including crops, resized copies, grayscale versions, and other useful variants. Heavy edits can still make a match harder.
Do you train models on uploaded artwork?
No. Your upload is used only for the search you requested. SourceTrace does not use submitted artwork to train generative models.
Why might an artist still be unclear?
Original posts can be deleted, private, unindexed, or separated from their credit. When the evidence is thin, SourceTrace shows the strongest useful lead instead of inventing an answer.
Can artists correct or claim a result?
